“Straight Outta Compton” scribe Alan Wenkus is on board to pen an adaptation of the Iraqi War drama “Code Name: Johnny Walker” at 28 Entertainment which acquired the rights last year.

Jim DeFelice (“American Sniper”) co-wrote the book with the Navy SEAL translator and Iraqi citizen who goes under the pseudonym ‘Johnny Walker’.

The translator was welcomed by the SEALs into their tight-knit ranks during the American invasion and the insurgency that followed. He ultimately took part in more than 1,000 missions over a six-year period.

When insurgents targeted Johnny and his family for torture and death, the SEALs heroically brought Johnny and his family to safety in the United States.

Jay Hoffman, Brian A. Hoffman and Brett Harrison will produce.
